The Emfundiswe Primary School Project

Purpose

Contribute to a conducive learning and teaching environment at Emfundiswe Primary School.

What

1. Assist the school with meeting its infrastructure and education equipment needs. 2. Assist learners at the school with meeting their uniform and stationery needs.

How

1. Identify and prioritise the infrastructure and education equipment needs of the school. A five-year implementation plan with annual milestones will be developed. The Foundation will provide the funding and/or establish the funding partnerships to deliver on annual milestones in the 5-year plan. 2. The SMT and SGB will identify and recommend learners that require assistance with their uniform and stationery needs. The Foundation will provide/pay for the uniforms and stationery required by the identified learners.

Bursaries For Secondary School Learners

Purpose

Assist top-performing Grade 7 learners from no-fees primary schools to complete their secondary education up to Grade 12, with a focus on arts and culture schools.

What

Provide secondary school fee bursaries to a minimum of ten (10) top performing learners from identified no fees primary school/s.

How

Each beneficiary will receive a bursary for each year of the five-year secondary education period. Each bursary will include funds for school fees, uniforms, stationary and any other contingency expenses e.g. school excursions

Beneficiaries

Half (50%) of the chosen beneficiaries will be girl learners.

Bursaries For Tertiary Studies

Purpose

Assist top-performing Grade 12 learners from no-fees secondary schools to access tertiary level studies, with a focus on studies in the arts and culture sectors.

What

Provide tertiary study bursaries to a minimum of ten (10) top performing Grade 12 learners from identified no-fees secondary schools.

How

Each beneficiary will receive a bursary for each year of the five-year secondary education period. Each bursary will include funds for school fees, uniforms, stationary and any other contingency expenses e.g. school excursions.

Beneficiaries

Half (50%) of the chosen beneficiaries will be girl learners. 25% of the chosen beneficiaries will be from rural areas.

Implementing Partners

The Foundation will partner with the School Management Teams (SMTs) and School Governing Bodies (SGB’s) in the secondary schools to identify the learners. Thereafter a bursary contract will be signed each beneficiary which makes the beneficiary the implementing partner.

Work Placement

Assist a minimum of 10 unemployed graduates from previously disadvantaged communities to secure permanent jobs within the arts and culture sector.

What

Match graduates and organisations in the arts and culture sector and facilitate the employment of the graduates.

How

Identify graduates with degrees/diplomas related to the arts and culture sector. Identify organisations operating within the sector. Facilitate the employment of the graduate. Assist the receiving company to develop and implement an induction, orientation and career development pathway for the graduate.

Half (50%) of the chosen beneficiaries will be women graduates.

Sustainable Community Development

Purpose

Support community-based sustainable development projects in previously disadvantaged communities with a focus on early childhood development, women empowerment, people living with disabilities and elderly people.

What

The chosen projects must contribute to improving the social and/or economic conditions for groups of community members. Examples of such projects are self-build homes, provision of water and sanitation, early childhood development centres, etc.

How

The Foundation will partner with community, faith-based, non-government organisations and private sector companies and their CSI programmes to implement this programme.

Beneficiaries

Community members in previously disadvantaged communities.

Community, faith-based and non-government organisations. Private sector CSI programmes, donors supporting developmental work.
